Biden made a last-ditch attempt to reach out to world leaders
On Monday, November 18, the US President Joe Biden began a visit to world leaders. He urged countries to support Ukraine even more, despite the fact that the newly elected leader of the White House could nullify his efforts.
This was reported by the NY Times.
US permission for strikes with ATACMS
Yesterday, Biden first gave permission for Ukraine to use long-range ATACMS missiles to strike Russian territory. Thus, Ukraine will be able to strengthen its defenses after Russia involved North Korean soldiers in the war. The decision was also made amidst one of the largest Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy system since the start of the full-scale invasion.
The article says that Biden and his aides are in a "desperate race against time" trying to support Ukraine before Trump comes to power in the White House. The current administration is trying to allocate the remaining resources before Trump's inauguration.
"This rush and the decision made over the weekend to allow long-range strikes on Russian territory contrasts with the more cautious approach that Mr. Biden has taken for many months to expand the use of advanced weapons," the publication noted.
It is known that several Republican lawmakers and some Democrats have called on Mr. Biden to provide Ukraine with broader opportunities for their use.
As a reminder, the former commander of the missile forces and artillery of the Polish Army, Jarosław Kraszewski, explained how the US permission for long-range strikes will affect the course of the war in Ukraine.
According to Polish President Andrzej Duda, this decision could be pivotal in the war.
