US President Joe Biden's administration is preparing a $725 million arms package for Ukraine. This step by the American leader is part of his efforts to support Kyiv before the end of his presidential term in January.

This was reported by Reuters, citing anonymous officials.

Military assistance to Ukraine from the United States

According to officials close to the plan, the new aid package for Ukraine will include a variety of weapons aimed at deterring the Russian offensive. Thus, Kyiv will receive:

  • anti-tank weapons;
  • mines;
  • drones;
  • Stinger missiles;
  • ammunition for HIMARS systems;
  • cluster munitions that can be used in GMLRS missiles.

"The official notification to Congress on the arms package could come as early as Monday, December 2. The content and size of the package could change in the coming days before Biden's expected signature," one official said.

It is noted that this package will be the largest use of presidential authority for the emergency release of weapons from US warehouses.

The decision to supply Ukraine with mines also caused controversy, as the United States has not exported this type of weapon to anyone for several decades.

As a reminder, Joe Biden authorized the provision of anti-personnel mines to Ukraine. This is another part of the urgent actions to help Ukraine that the US president has been talking about.

We also wrote that on November 25, Biden submitted a request to Congress for additional assistance to Ukraine. In particular, it is about $24 billion.
