President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) on the ban on the transfer of doctors to military positions not related to the medical service. Medical workers will be able to transfer only at their own request.

This is stated in the decree on the President's website, December 5.

Doctors will not be sent to the infantry

The NSDC noted that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine was instructed to adopt a decision on additional regulatory and legal regulation within a month which establishes a ban on the appointment of persons with medical education to military service positions for the period of martial law, that are not directly related to medical practice, except in cases where this appointment occurs at the request of such a person.

The government was also tasked with working out within a month the issue of the advisability of revising the conditions and mechanism for reserving medical personnel during martial law. In particular, this concerns the lifting of restrictions on the number of conscripted healthcare workers who have the right to be reserved.

As a reminder, the MP Anna Skorokhod stated during the broadcast of Day.LIVE that in Ukraine, doctors are being massively transferred to the infantry even without basic training. Only a small number manage to remain in their positions.

The MP Maryana Bezugla stated that 20% of military doctors and aircraft technicians are being transferred to the infantry due to the difficult situation on the front line, especially in the east of the country.
