President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid his first-ever visit to Iceland. The Head of State will take part in the Nordic-Ukrainian Summit and meet with the country's leadership.

Zelenskyy announced this on Monday, October 28.

Zelenskyy's visit to Iceland

"This is my first working visit to Iceland. I will take part in the fourth Nordic-Ukrainian Summit and hold bilateral talks with its participants: the prime ministers of Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden," Zelenskyy said.

The Head of State added that he would meet with President of Iceland Halla Thomassdottir and representatives of the Icelandic Parliament. The President of Ukraine will also take part in a meeting of the Nordic Council.

Zelensky added that the parties will discuss support for the Victory Plan, as well as issues where cooperation between the two countries could be most effective. This primarily concerns funding for Ukrainian weapons production and long-range systems, preparations for winter, maritime security, limiting the Russian shadow fleet, defense support, and the training and equipping of Ukrainian soldiers.

"The Nordic countries are our principled and resolute allies, and the Ukraine-Nordic Europe platform is one of our most effective multilateral formats. We continue to work together to realize its full potential," said the President.

Iceland's Permanent Secretary of State Martin Eyjolfsson said that over the past few months, the amount of military assistance to Ukraine from international partners has decreased.

Earlier, we wrote that Zelenskyy and Icelandic Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson signed an agreement on security cooperation and long-term support in Stockholm.
