The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed Law No. 11484. It envisages amendments to the Criminal Code in accordance with the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

This is stated in the bill's description.

Changes in criminal law

The law is entitled "On Amendments to the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes of Ukraine in Connection with the Ratification of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and Amendments Thereto". It will enter into force the day after its publication.

According to the document, the titles of some articles of the Criminal Code are being changed. In particular, Article 437, which regards "Planning, Preparation, Launching and Waging of Aggressive War", has been renamed "Crime of Aggression". This now includes planning, preparing or waging an aggressive war or military conflict, as well as participation in a conspiracy aimed at committing such acts.

These acts are punishable by a more severe penalty — imprisonment for a term of 10 to 15 years (previously — from 7 to 12 years). For waging an aggressive war or aggressive military actions, the penalty will be from 10 to 15 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment (previously — from 10 to 12 years).

In addition, the title of Article 438 is being changed from "Violation of the Laws and Customs of War" to "War Crimes".

In addition, the Criminal Code will be expanded with new articles, in particular "Crimes against Humanity", which define intentional acts committed as part of a deliberate large-scale or systematic attack on civilians.

As a reminder, on October 17, Zelenskyy signed the law "On the Peculiarities of the Sale of State-Owned Shares in the Authorized Capital of Banks". According to the new rules, the sale of not only 100% of shares, but also partial state share packages in banks is allowed.

And on October 10, the Ukrainian Parliament adopted an amendment to the bill on tax increases, which involves the cancellation of the tax increase for military personnel.
