Bodies of 502 fallen defenders returned to Ukraine

As a result of repatriation activities, Ukraine has returned the bodies of 502 fallen servicemen to the territory under its control. The bodies will be identified as soon as possible.

This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

Return of fallen soldiers to Ukraine

The Coordination Headquarters said that the bodies of those killed fighting in different areas had been returned to Ukraine:

  • 397 from the Donetsk sector;
  • 24 from the Luhansk sector;
  • 64 from the Zaporizhzhya sector;
  • 17 dead were returned from morgues in Russia.

It is noted that the fallen soldiers were returned with the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The victims will be identified as soon as possible in cooperation with expert institutions.

As a reminder, the last exchange of dead took place on November 8 this year. Back then, the bodies of 563 fallen soldiers were returned to Ukraine.
