Bodies of 501 fallen defenders returned to Ukraine

The bodies of another 501 soldiers were returned to Ukraine. The fallen served in the Avdiivka, Mariinka, Vuhledar, Zaporizhzhia and Luhansk directions.

This was reported by the press service of the Coordination Center for the Treatment of Prisoners of War on Friday, October 18. 

Body exchange — 501 fallen defenders returned

As a result of the repatriation activities, 501 fallen defenders were returned to Ukraine.

It was possible to repatriate 382 bodies of defenders killed in the Avdiivka sector, 56 bodies of fallen soldiers from the Bakhmut sector, 45 bodies of defenders from the Mariinka sector, six bodies of fallen soldiers from the Vuhledar sector, four bodies of fallen soldiers from the Zaporizhzhia sector and seven bodies of soldiers from the Luhansk sector. We also managed to return one body from a morgue on the territory of the Russian Federation. 

The Ukrainian Armed Forces will transport the repatriated bodies and remains to designated state institutions. Law enforcement officials and forensic experts will identify the victims.

After identification, the bodies of the defenders will be returned to their families for proper burial.

As a reminder, Denys Skliarenko, a coach of FC Troieshchyna from Kyiv, was killed at the front on August 30 in the Kupiansk sector. Skliarenko served in the 131st Battalion of the 112th Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
