Tropical cyclone Chido rages in Africa — dozens dead

The deadly tropical cyclone Chido has been raging in Africa for a week now, killing at least 94 people in Mozambique. Another 620 thousand people have been affected by the natural disaster.

It is noted that the cyclone has caused severe destruction, especially in the province of Cabo Delgado. The death toll in Mozambique in Africa has risen to 94 people.

As reported, the storm's wind gusts reached up to 260 km/h, and daily rainfall exceeded 250 mm. Cyclone Chido wreaked havoc on 620,000 people in Mozambique, with an additional 500,000 affected in the northern province of Cabo Delgado.

Experts believe that the cyclone's strength is linked to climate change, which is increasing the intensity of such events.

The presidential candidate of the ruling Frelimo party, Daniel Chapo, visited the affected areas and called on citizens to show solidarity and help the victims.

The publication emphasizes that Cyclone Chido is one of the most destructive cyclones in recent years and is second only to the destruction in the Mayotte archipelago. In general, Africa is preparing for a long recovery process after the cyclone.
