The founder of the social network Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, is often depicted wearing an embroidered shirt (traditional Ukrainian clothes — ed.). However, there is a significant amount of truth in these humorous images, as his name is closely associated with the small town of Rozdil in the Lviv region.

The publication NV analyzed the Ukrainian roots of the famous entrepreneur.

Zuckerberg's Ukrainian roots

Ukrainian historian Oksana Lobko has proven that Mark Zuckerberg's family roots trace back to the town of Rozdil in the Lviv region of Ukraine.

This town was home to a multinational community that included Ukrainians, Poles, and Jews.

Several generations of the Zuckerberg family lived there, and it was from this small town that the founder of Facebook’s great-great-grandfather, Isaac Zuckerberg, immigrated to the U.S. at the end of the 19th century. His departure marked the end of the Ukrainian chapter of the Zuckerberg family's history and the beginning of their American story.

"There are no precise records explaining why Isaac Zuckerberg decided to sail to America. Perhaps it was because the family had many children, and he was seeking a better life. It seems he left suddenly and never returned to Ukraine," Lobko said.

She added that during that period, America attracted hundreds of thousands of people with its promise of freedom and opportunities.

Earlier, it was reported that business figures Ivanka Trump, Mark Zuckerberg, and Bill Gates were among the high-profile guests who traveled to Jamnagar for the three-day pre-wedding celebration of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.

Additionally, it's worth mentioning that Zuckerberg is building a bunker in Hawaii, located on Pacific islands, with the construction of the secret facility estimated to cost $100 million.
