US President-elect Donald Trump has responded to Democratic criticism that the political influence of his billionaire ally Elon Musk is growing. He assured that Musk would never become the new head of state.

Trump said this on Sunday, December 22, at the AmericaFest conference, NBC News reports.

Why Musk could not become president of the United States

Trump said that the claims that he had "ceded the presidency" to Musk were a fiction. And even if the businessman wanted the position, he would not be able to get it.

The Head of State explained that according to the Constitution of the United States, only a citizen by birth can be president of the country. Musk was born in South Africa, not the United States.

"No, he will not become president, I can tell you that. And I am safe. You know why he can't be? He wasn't born in this country," Trump said.

The future head of state's reaction to Musk's influence came after the businessman helped him reject a bipartisan government funding bill proposed by House Republican spokesman Mike Johnson.

As a reminder, Trump has decided on the candidates for two deputy heads of the Pentagon. He stated that he plans to appoint billionaire Steven Feinberg as Deputy Secretary of Defense, and Elbridge Colby as Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. The second future official is known for his tough stance on China and worked in the US Department of Defense during Trump's first term.

We also wrote that yesterday the newly elected US president made a big promise to Ukraine. In particular, Trump promised to end the war in our country and to prevent World War III.
