Russian officials, including Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, have unofficially congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the US presidential election. The Russian Federation hopes for a change in America's position on supporting Ukraine.

This was reported by Verstka on Wednesday, November 6.

Russian leadership congratulated Trump through friends

It is noted that representatives of the Russian authorities, including the Kremlin leader Putin, congratulated Trump on his victory in the US presidential elections. According to the publication's sources, the Russian elite is expressing hope that thanks to Trump, Russia's position in the war against Ukraine will improve.

"They did it unofficially — "through their friends" in the Russian Foreign Ministry. Among the authors of the congratulations are Vladimir Putin, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of the Board of Sberbank German Gref and speakers of the parliamentary chambers Valentina Matvienko and Vyacheslav Volodin," the message reads.

A source in the Russian parliament told Verstka that Trump is "more negotiable and better" for Russia than Harris. According to the source, the hopes "are primarily related to reducing aid to Ukraine".

As for the Trump's idea to end the war, the Kremlin does not take it seriously.

"How will he do it? Will he threaten Putin? Zelenskyy? There is only one way to end the war quickly — to stop helping Ukraine abruptly," — said a source close to the administration of the Russian dictator.

At the same time, the Telegram channel We Can Explain cites examples of Russian media doubting that Trump's victory is beneficial for Russia and warning of difficulties in communicating with the newly elected US president.

State Duma deputy Yevgeny Popov expressed his fears that Trump could offer Russia a "pre-existing unfavorable deal on Ukraine" before January.

"If Moscow refuses, the Republican will announce an unprecedented aid package for Kyiv and lift all restrictions on the use of missiles supplied by the United States," Popov said.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reacted to Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. He said that he did not know if the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin was going to congratulate him.

We also wrote that bookmakers have started accepting bets on whether Trump will end the war in Ukraine in 90 days.
