EU countries sell luxury cars to the Russian Federation — the scheme is revealed
Despite the sanctions, an independent car dealer in Germany sold and exported to Russia several luxury cars with a total value of over 4 million euros. The German Office of the Federal Prosecutor is currently investigating.
This was reported by the German publication Rheinische Post.
How cars from Germany get to the Russian Federation
German law enforcement authorities found out that the manager of a car dealership in Königswinter near Bonn pretended to legally export luxury cars to third countries. However, he actually sold them to Russia. In total, he earned about 4 million euros in a short time.
He is currently under investigation on suspicion of violating the Law on Foreign Trade.
In addition, investigators conducted two searches at the dealer at the end of September and collected a lot of evidence. They also took two luxury cars as part of the seizure. Currently, the investigation is still ongoing.
It should be recalled that the EU adopted a new regime of sanctions a few days ago, which are aimed at countering Russian hybrid threats. The sanctions will take effect this week, and the list of individuals and organizations will be added later.
We also reported that the US imposed sanctions against a network involved in illegal payment channels between Russia and North Korea. Russia can continue to wage war in Ukraine with its help.
