The American billionaire Elon Musk, who became famous as the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, may be involved in the work of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE — Ed.) under the leadership of the Donald Trump administration. For this purpose, office space will be allocated in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, which is located next to the White House.

This was reported by The New York Times.

Trump can help Musk to get his position in power

According to two sources with knowledge of the matter, Musk, who owns companies with multibillion-dollar contracts with the federal government, has reportedly already held talks with Trump's transition team.

Elon Musk was a major contributor to Donald Trump's campaign, donating hundreds of millions of dollars. During the transition period, he was closely involved with the president, advising the team, participating in international calls, helping with staffing, and even using villas at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate as temporary residences.

Features and challenges of the DOGE project

The Department of Government Effectiveness project, led by Elon Musk and his partner Vivek Ramaswamy, was created to reform the public administration system. However, DOGE is not an official department in the traditional sense, as its status has not been approved by Congress.

Elon Musk's new department already has many challenges to implement

Despite its ambitious goals, the project currently faces a number of challenges. In particular, conflict-of-interest laws prohibit public officials from engaging in matters that could affect their personal financial interests or the interests of companies with which they are affiliated. This could be a serious problem for Musk, whose companies have contracts with the government.

The "special government employee" status that is being discussed for Musk would allow him to bypass some of the requirements for disclosing personal financial information. If Musk accepts this status, it is likely that he will give up his salary. However, this raises additional questions about the transparency of DOGE's work and project funding.

In addition, if the department works with outsiders, its activities will fall under the Federal Advisory Committee Act. This means that all meetings must be open and documents must be available to the public. In addition, the Freedom of Information Act requires that official documents be made available to journalists and citizens, unless there are clearly defined exceptions.

Musk has not yet made a final decision on his status and authority within the department, nor has he determined whether his ethical obligations will apply to all of his employees and partners. However, the legal and ethical issues arising from his involvement could have a significant impact on the implementation of this project.

To recap, Elon Musk allegedly wants British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to resign.

Earlier, Elon Musk accused Keir Starmer of allegedly sending his own agents to the United States to disrupt the election.
