British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will call on Joe Biden to provide a $20 billion loan to Ukraine. He is convinced that this should be done before Donald Trump takes office.

This was reported by The Telegraph on Tuesday, November 12.

Meeting between Keir Starmer and Joe Biden

According to the publication, Starmer plans to hold personal talks with Biden at the G20 summit in Brazil. It will be held next week.

"London's lobbying is aimed at ensuring that the G7 countries — Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States — all fulfill earlier promises of new loans to Ukraine," the newspaper notes.

Back in June, G7 world leaders approved a $50 billion loan to Ukraine. This is partially funded by interest earned from frozen Russian assets.

The United States has promised to provide Ukraine with $20 billion of this $50 billion, but so far this has not happened. However, according to the newspaper, reports from the United States last month showed that the money is being prepared for disbursement this year.

Allowing Ukraine to fire missiles deep into Russia

In addition to the issue of financial support for Ukraine, the British prime minister wants to influence Biden to give Ukraine permission to fire long-range missiles deep into Russia.

According to the publication, the day before, Starmer discussed an action plan with French President Emmanuel Macron to force the United States to change its position on the use of Storm Shadows missiles.

As a reminder, on November 13, incumbent US President Joe Biden is scheduled to meet with the winner of the election, Donald Trump.

Republican Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. election jeopardizes the supply of U.S. weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. As a result, the Biden administration is trying to provide as much military assistance as possible before the new president is inaugurated.
